Description
Located only 500 metres (5 minutes on foot) from the very heart of Cortona, an ancient Etruscan town, Casale Girifalco is the ideal location for relaxing and stress-free holidays.
Casale Girifalco, converted from a 17th century farmhouse and tastefully restored, provides guests thanks to its stunning panoramic location, its beautiful swimming-pool and its proximity to the town centre with an ideal spot for relaxing holidays in Tuscany.
The beautiful stone-building has retained notable 16th century trimmings.
Restoration work was completed in June 2007 and all furnishings were personally and carefully picked by the owner amongst valuable genuine family antique pieces.
The mansion served up to the 18th century as a post house known as the “Locanda del Girifalco” (as is witnessed by the old coat of arms depicting a “gyrfalcon” a bird of prey also known as Falco rusticolus) where the wayfarers could spend a night under cover.
Both the villa and the farmhouse open out through large French doors (all with insect screen) onto the front garden unfolding with terracings and lawns.
At guests' disposal:
The outdoor of the Villa consists of a private garden developing on two levels.
On the upper level there is the patio with a table for al fresco dining.
BBQ and wood-burning oven and firewood on request for pizza and typical tuscan dishes.
The 4x8 metre swimming-pool specially reserved for our guests’ enjoyment is equipped with a salt electrolysis water-treatment system and sun shower.

Interior Description
Casale Girifalco consists of a mansion and an adjoining farmhouse.
VILLA (sqm 350)
Ground floor: living area with large fire place and with living room with dining room, kitchen and toilet.
First floor large living room with old stone fireplace and four double bedrooms (two with private en-suite bathroom with shower and two with shared bathroom with shower and bath-tub.
FARMHOUSE (sqm 100 )
The adjoining farmhouse is spread over two floors; only the ground-floor apartment is rented out (the apartment on first floor with separate entrance is occasionally used by the owner).
Ground Floor living room with dining area with stone fireplace, small fully-equipped kitchen, two double bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en-suite with shower and one with shower and bath-tub).
All rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the front garden through large French doors.
Equipped garden with table for 12 people ideal for al fresco dining. 2 panoramic terraces with chairs for aperitif watching the breathtaking sunset!

Very nice clean villa with a fantastic view over the valley. A lot of space with many sleeping rooms and bath rooms. Helpful owner. There are great restaurants in Cortona and is easy to reach by foot.

Casale Girifalco is well situated, in a beautiful place at walking distance from the village of Cortona. The house's charm, the garden, the pool and the view are definitely the assets of this house. We were however a little bit disappointed by some points, which could be easily settled : the condition and services of the house were below our expectations compared to the photos, and with the strong heat in the summertime some air-conditionning in the bedrooms in addition to the mosquito nets would have been appreciated. We had however a very nice stay with our family and appreciated the olive oil, fruits and desert offered by Manuela on our arrival.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casale Girifalco despite the incredibly hot weather in August and lack of AC. The house cools off nicely in the evenings as long as you close the shutters and the pool is an amazing respite after a long day touring the various cities & sights around Cortona. It’s incredibly convenient to be able to walk to all the shops & restaurants in Cortona and the amenities in the Villa and adjacent guest house were great. One recommendation is to have the villa owner manage the security deposit, cleaning fee, etc through the rental agency as this was a bit inconvenient. The owner should also replace the poolside lounges as several of them are broken and not charge for pool towels as they should just be included in the cost of the Villa.

Absolutely spectacular views, I don’t think we could find a better spot in the whole of Tuscany! The perfect location 15mins walk to the centre of the beautiful town of Cortona with wonderful local restaurants and shops. Great pool and really authentic Italian interiors. Just loved it! Fabulous host who was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. Could not recommend it more highly. We will definitely be back!
