Even more stunning are the interior frescoes and domed ceilings, creating a truly magical experience. It's best to drive there, but be sure to follow the directions in the accommodation guide; otherwise, novice drivers may encounter some difficulties.

We had an amazing time at castle montegufoni. The castle & gardens are well tended to, the view is stunning and the staff very friendly. The pool was perfect hangout during the day & there are many restaurants in nearby villages. We stayed in "La Grotta" which had beautiful rooms with wonderful roof paintings & a small but functional kitchen. We would love to come back and visit again.

Wir hatten eine ganz wunderbare Zeit hier. Riesen Anwesen mit magischen Ausblicken und Gärten und einem fabelhaftem Restaurant. Man fühlte sich ein bisschen wie in einem altem königlichen Film. Nur eine halbe Stunde von Florenz entfernt und fantastische Weingüter wo man nur hinschaut

We were amazed by the accommodation here. This exceeded our expectations as the rooms were massive with amazing frescos and furniture. It's a castle so you need to expect some darkness - each of the rooms had giant windows that looked out over the Tuscan countryside. We were meant to use this as a base to explore Florence but ended up just spending our two full days on site, with kids swimming in the freezing cold pool. A few drinks at the restaurant kept us entertained while we waited until 7.30pm for dinner (why so late Europe???). The restaurant was lovely with beautiful fresh food. This is definitely a lovely relaxing place to stay!

Lovely property, great restaurant, large rooms in Tuscan wine country.

We loved our stay at La Grotta. It’s a beautiful apartment, and the reception staff were lovely. We would have liked if there was more lighting in all the rooms however, as they were very dark. Also would be great to have mosquito plug-ins in the walls.

It was truly an amazing experience. Great staff and wonderful restaurant on site. We were based there for 3 nights while we toured Tuscany and Florence. I wish it could have been longer. The LA Gratta room was over the top.

Our apartment, "La Grotta” was unbelievable! It was like being on a movie set. Everything about this property is breathtakingly gorgeous and picturesque. We used it as a homebase and went into Florence for day trips and then visited wineries in the local area. Lots of great restaurants and small quaint towns to visit nearby. This is not a full-service hotel so it is important to know that before you go and there is no breakfast on site so if you want coffee in the morning you need to be prepared to provide your own supplies. They have all of the cooking utensils that you need. There are many wonderful little gathering spots in and around the castle for enjoying aperitifs or your lunch or dinner alfresco. Best picture taking opportunities ever! Note, our apartment did not have air-conditioning but they provided many fans and that was fine. Little to no mosquitoes so we were able to leave all of our windows wide open without a problem.

We had a fabulous stay at Castello Montegufoni. The castle is very authentic, but with lots of modern conveniences. The location is a great central point for exploring the beautiful Tuscan countryside and quaint villages and getting to Florence is pretty simple.
The staff are wonderful. The restaurant has a limited menu but has different specials in the evenings. Be aware that it is not open every night, but there are a few great restaurants nearby. We visited the Pizzeria at the bottom of the hill one evening and it was fantastic.

Eine sehr reizvolle Unterkunft (La Grotta-Appartement) in toller, zentraler Lage mit ein paar kleinen Schönheitsfehlern.

Wonderful experience at the castle. We really enjoyed our stay here and it was absolutely a highlight of our holiday. If you are staying here though, renting a car is a must. It was very difficult to get around anywhere. We did hire ebikes which was loads of fun, however a car would've been much better!

Better than expected.
The people managing this location were excellent with all the assistance you could ever require. Their maintenance man even rescued a valued ring that slipped off a finger and went down the drain, by taking apart the drain to retrieve it.
The food in the restaurant is exactly what you would expect from a restaurant in this area. We ate at many local places and all were top notch.
Our room (La Grotta) was even more spectacular than expected. Not only would I recommend this place, but I have since convinced some friends to stay here and also in the area since our experience was more than expected.

Truly an experience that took our party of 4 back 5 centuries. The facilities are marvelous in that their reconstruction captures the artwork and thereby the essence of 15th and 16 century lifestyles in Tuscany. The introduction of modern facilities in no way counters the beauty of the castle, but on the contrary enhances the experience of today's contemporary traveler, who may just bicycle to the castle in order to fully breathe in the countryside, but upon arrival, would like to shower and dine at his/her convenience.
